Brad Furr Executive Vice President and General Manager
As executive vice president and general manager of Albemarle EMC, I would like to thank you
for visiting our web site. We continually strive to make it more
useful for our members. This portal is meant to provide you with
electronic access to your cooperative, the company bylaws, rates, etc.
If you have comments or suggestions about this site, please
contact us. We welcome your thoughts.
Your cooperative strives to maintain reliable electrical service while
providing affordable rates. The cooperative way of doing business is a
premier business model for the end user. When you become a member of
Albemarle EMC, you also become part owner in the company. As an owner
of a not-for-profit electric distribution cooperative, you are entitled to
accrue capital credits (known as profits in other business models).
These capital credits are used to run the business; then returned at a
later date. This business model allows us to provide superior service
levels, competitively priced electricity, and provides the member a
share of any margins generated. The cooperative business model is
geared toward service, not profit.
Albemarle EMC is heavily involved within our local communities. By
example, we are an active participant in our school systems, charitable
events and economic development activities. Our employees are members
of local civic organizations, recreational groups and churches. We are
locally owned, and our employees live in the region we serve. Our
participation in community events isn't just what we do; it is who we
are. As individuals, we help our neighbors in times of need, and the
cooperative functions as an extension of that philosophical viewpoint.
When shopping for electrical providers in the Albemarle area, I hope
you will contact the co-op and allow us the opportunity to serve you.
We look forward to adding you to our cooperative family.
